Balozi SACCO was formed in the year 1975 and registered as a co-operative Society. At the moment, Balozi SACCO draws its membership from Kenyans who work in the US Embassy, USAID, Walter Reed Project, Library of Congress, Peace Corps, British Broadcasting Corporation, KK Guards and any other organized groups that the Management Committee may deem fit and approved by delegates in the AGM from time to time. Its membership was 2,440 as of December 2012. The Society has continued to exist for the promotion of the economic interests of its members in accordance with the Co-operative principles.
The objectives for which the Society was established have been as follows:
i. To encourage thrift among its members by according them an opportunity to accumulate savings;
ii. To create and develop a source of funds for lending to qualified members at comparatively low and reasonable rates of interest;
iii. To provide an opportunity for its individual members to improve their respective economic and social conditions-, and;
iv. To perform the functions and exercise the powers designated for Savings and Credit Co-operativ Societies under the applicable law
In an effort to raise the standard of living of members, Balozi SACCO has in the last thirty five years engaged in mobilization of funds to assist its members to meet their immediate financial needs. Receipt of savings as shares and deposits as well as disbursing loans to its members remain the Society's principal activities.
